Love’s Ladies

It is my goal to have clean genetics with all of my breedings by testing with available DNA tests for the inheritable diseases that Labradors have to date. #1 Importance to breeding is breeding responsibly and not breeding in the blind, so with that being said HEALTH is #1 to me and then it is HUGE personalities, great stunning looks, color, superior hunting abilities, easy to train and all around good manners at home with the family. I also believe that OFA use to be a fine standard but today the standards can be better by doing a IDEXX Radiology on the hips and elbows for best read for dysplasia.

I limit the breedings to my girls based on their health, 3-4 litters and spay by age 5 or within the year of age of 5. To check the eyes with a Diplomate has been tough since Covid as many went out of business. Since I have added another location that being in Montana, I now have a few more locations to get annual eye exams. First one is in July and the one following is in September 2023. But the major bugaboos with eyes for the Labrador is: PRA-PRCD and RDOSD and they are already cleared with that thru DNA testing. The younger girls will have eyes cleared by a Eye Diplomate prior to breeding.

Pearl’s Story:

Pearl was an extremely talented girl on birds. Got her JH in AKC. Very pretty yellow Lab, didn’t like being a Mommy so I retired her. I retired from competing in 2017 and she needed to be either competing strong or hunting strong. I rehomed her to what I thought was a good home to an avid hunter and family. I followed up on her constantly and the photos didn’t look right. She looked unhappy. After 18 months asking questions about her health and why she looked so unhappy in the pictures, actually she looked like she was being beaten……the adopter reached out saying her back was broke somehow. I inquired where he said the surgery was done but UC Davis had no knowledge of her. As it turned out the adopter lied about pretty much everything and an obvious abuse issue. A successful guy with a large contracting supply biz in Sacramento area with young children and a membership at 3 very prominent Hunt Clubs. Since her back was broke, he said she was no good to him further and I had 2 days to get her picked up or she was going to be euthanized. I had a friend of mine w his son pick her up and bring her to me in NE Oregon. My friends son looked very much like the adopter, when she saw him she fell down to the ground shaking in fear. Obvious abuse going on. When I got her back she had aged 10 yrs in just 18 months. She could barely walk and could not crouch in her back end to go potties. I got her on pain meds and inflammation control immediately and regular treatments with Accupressure. That did it. She stretched out on the land I was on, running at her own pace and within 6 months a huge improvement. I missed her being able to wag her tail. After a yr, she was able to. She was smiling and happy. After 2 yrs, she had aged a ton more, she had a tough time sleeping well and would be shaking by morning. I let her get out of her pain Dec 7, 2022. She came back knowing I never forgot her, I still loved her and wanted her to be with me. That meant the world to her. It’s hard to be so responsible for these kids and saying goodbye. She didn’t want to go but I didn’t want her to be in pain. Yes, she could’ve been in a wheelchair but that would not of taken away the pain in her back. I miss you Pearl and I am so glad you came back. And I am so sorry I ever let you go. RIP Pearl. Our hearts will meet again up in heaven. Until then run and play with anything that moves in the wind, that is your favorite game of all! Pearl, I want you to know the abuser is being watched. If he did this to you, he is doing it to other dogs.

Emma’s Story:

Emma had an issue in honoring to another working hunting dog and creeped and this kept her from achieving a Master Title with Hunt Tests. The talent was obvious in every other way. She received a few Jams in Field Trials before she came to me. Her 1st owner abused her and she was taken away from him and a friend got her to me feeling I would provide her a peaceful dog loving environment. I enjoyed Emma around, she was ALWAYS happy.
She had a few litters and I kept one, Brooke. Brooke is as well always happy.
April 22, 2022 Emma found peace with her friends in dog heaven. Her back end went out on her and since she was age 11 and had her last half of her life with such peace in it, I decided to let her go peacefully as this is what she deserved. RIP Emma Jean.

Angel’s Story:

Angel was true to her name. An Angel. Super easy to train, very birdy, adorable in every way, sweet and kind to everything and everyone, she was perfect. At age 19 months she achieved her Master Hunter Title and 2 months later her and I went to the Master Nationals 2010. She was my first Master level competing hunting Labrador. I think we earned our stripes as I didn’t train under another trainer. Angel was a natural hunter and everyone she came in touch with adored her. She lost her best friend she grew up with Levi Nov 3rd, 2020 and after then she just did not want to do much in life. She missed him so very much. They were extremely close. I watched her grieve for months over losing him. I thought of letting her go but she had days where she wanted to swim in the Lake, snuggle with me and was glad to be near me. On Sept 22, 2021 she had a heart attack and was gone in less than 10 seconds. It was quick. The Lord blessed her with no pain to the goodbye. But it never gave her and I a chance to say goodbye, but to be quite frank I don’t think we could’ve. Her and I did everything together for over 14 years. My life has been at a loss without her since, as she was that smile I looked forward to in the morning and throughout my day. RIP Angel. Our hearts will meet up again and someday soon.

Jaz’s Story:

Jaz was no doubt the prettiest black female Labrador anyone has seen in their life and I received comments as such wherever we went. Breathtakingly beautiful. Extreme talent, heat seeking missile on birds and a ton of energy. We had fun competing and acquiring Senior Title and then I retired from competing and she should’ve achieved her Master Title but I was done with the competitions. She had a few litters that continued on her talents and beauty. I lost her a bit early at age 10. I didn’t know the house I had leased was full of mold in the attic. She was one of my kids that succumbed to it and I lost her Sept 28th, 2022. Just 6 days after I lost my Angel. I miss Jaz. ALOT. She was a lot of dog in the early years but as she aged she calmed down and became a gentle house dog. Always a ton of fun with her. RIP Jaz. I wish we had 3-4 more years of fun.

Grace’s Story:

Grace was exquisite beauty. I always received comments from potential adopters for her pups that they wanted her beauty and her large personality. It was never boring around Grace. She was brilliant. She passed all of these qualities onto her pups and the hunting extreme abilities. Grace started my Labrador lifestyle with the business and my everyday 24 hours a day emersed with all of these kids. Thank you Grace. She was my first hunt test competition dog and she taught me well. She was such a pistol in the blind that after Juniors we could go no further in Seniors as I had rewarded her with the bird in Juniors that to get her to honor or to walk to the line with ease, well it wasn’t going to happen. I was fine with this, she was my best friend. I lost her Dec 21st, 2016. My life changed that day and then again when I lost my Angel. Never will I have what I had with both Grace and Angel thru the years again. I was blessed to have such deep and endearing relationships with the two of them. RIP Grace. I know you and Angel are in Heaven chewing on sticks laughing at life everyday. I miss you.

Ginger’s Story:

Ginger was my comedian. From Grace’s first litter, she was gorgeous and a true goof. She would do things and I would laugh and she would just look at me asking what I was laughing at. She was birdy, sweet and kind and a dear friend. She had complications with mammary gland cancer. She was involved in a very important clinical study that it proved out that adding 02 to a system it dormant the cancer tumors. She lived another 2 and half years before the Parent tumor took over and I said goodbye to her with a bird in her mouth. This study is significant for both dogs and humans that if we are proactive and add 02 to our daily regimen then perhaps we can prevent cancer from ever forming. Hyperbaric Chambers are a great way to extend one’s own life. Thank you Ginger you helped us to find this out. I miss you. You always made me laugh. RIP Ginger

I lost Rose this last Summer 2015 to a rare bowel condition that is not known to be genetic. Rose went way too early in her years. Yes, she tried my patience with her ‘Italian Blonde Talk’. (Rose did not bark like a normal kid but instead would have a scream.) Rose was sweet, kind, adorable and pretty lots of fun, always smiling and turned out to be a wonderful Mommy. She loved her kids. All of her pups turned out extremely good looking, wonderful family companions and a few of them hunters. I miss her running around with her ever ending smile. I know you are with God now and forever.
